These medicines will make it  easier for you to go on with you daily routine smoothly. These drugs may be  used in combination to get best results.<\/p>\n<p> Topical steroids like creams, gels,  foams, ointments, etc. they come in various combinations and concentrations  based on the extent of the lesion. They significantly arrest itching and  inflammation associated with eczema.<\/p>\n<p>  Hydrocortisone available over the  counter is a good option that most dermatologists prescribe. This ointment should be applied on the skin twice a day.<\/p>\n<p> Barrier repair moisturizers are  another option which keep your skin hydrated, prevent dryness and itching.<\/p>\n<p> Pimecrolimus and tacrolimus are  drugs solely used for inflammatory skin conditions and are suited for moderate  and severe cases of eczema.<\/p>\n<p>  Corticosteroids can also be taken in  the form of pills, liquids, or shots.<\/p>\n<p> Immunosuppressant drugs like  cyclosporine, methotrexate, and mycophenolatemofetil are very effective in  moderate and severe cases of eczema as they ease hypersensitivity and hyper  immune responses.<\/p>\n<p> Antibiotics are used to cure  infections caused due to itching.<\/p>\n<p> Antihistaminic drugs are used mainly  to arrest itching.<\/p>\n<h2>Other Treatments that require office visits<\/h2>\n<p> <strong>Phototherapy<\/strong>: Ultraviolet radiation has been  proven effective in initiating an immunosuppressant action in many cases. This  treatment has been proven to be very effective but needs to be used very  carefully to avoid the risks for skin cancers. There are 2 categories of this  treatment modality:<\/p>\n<p> <strong>Ultraviolet light therapy<\/strong>: In the dermatologist&#8217;s clinic, you are subjected to UVA  and UVB rays and have 2 to 5 sittings per week but this has to be performed by  a highly skilled and qualified skin specialist.<\/p>\n<p> <strong>PUVA therapy<\/strong>:  This therapy involves exposure to UV rays along with ingesting a drug called  psoralen, which makes the body more responsive to the ultra violet radiations.
